After a while remove the meat from the soup
to pick it from the bone and cut into pieces

I've never put lentils in pea soup - just dried peas, carrot, onion and ham. Heavenly cold weather food!

So the Dutch don't have a monopoly on split pea soup? I think I like yours better- no Mettwurst!
I love pea soup, too! I, too, have never used lentils in it, but that makes sense. Lentils and split peas are both great--they cook so quickly!
Never heard of breadcakes - but they look great. In my part of the woods we call this a biscuit.
Um, lentils and peas - I'm all down for the joining the party. AND anything with pork gets my vote...especially smoked pork.
