One espresso and one tea

Outside the rain is pouring down, its cold and windy

And its summer!

There is no reason to be upset!

I light some candles, and Yorkshire lad

Brings me my favourite:

An espresso and a cup of tea!

And what about some warm cinnamon rolls on the side?

Some silly television, and the indoor comfort is complete!

There is nothing we can do about the weather anyway!

Picnic at the cabin and an ice tea

My summer holiday is not to start while the end of July, but I am ready for it now.

I try to do stuff that feel holiday-ish after work and during the weekends. 

This way I make myself believe that I am already off, and the summer seems long and promising!

One afternoon last week, we had a picnic at the cabin. 

my mum and dad came with us, they used to own our cabin, and they love to come with us, and to see how much we treasure the old little house and the garden. 

We enjoyed our food in the sun, aspic, garlic bread and remoulade, and a few ice cold non alcoholic beers (we were driving)

On our way home the GPS suddenly felt the urge to tell us that "you are home in 23 minutes". Even though nobody had asked it. 

Back in the kitchen Pink Princesse treated me with an ice tea and a few strawberries from the coffemachine she gave us for Christmas!

Lungemos and Tea time

There is something called "Lungemos" in Norway

Some love it, some hate it , some haven't even tried it

and there is them who haven't heard of it at all.

We used to have it for our dinner in the seventies,

cheap and good and very child-friendly

We used to mash out potatoes in it

and the taste was salty and spicy,

and no need to chew

It's the Haggis of Norway

made of meat, heart, lungs and other stuff from pork, lamb or cow.

(Lungemos means mash of lungs,

maybe that's what putting people off?)

Today I got a surprise at work.

A colleague brought me a book,

which she had got from someone.

Since I am a anglofile Norwegian girl

who loves to cook and bake, this was a treat for me!

A book about traditions, reciepes and little anecdotes..

Crumpets.. The first time I went to visit my husbands family
I got these round strange things, full of holes,
warm and dripping with butter
in what would become my mother-in-law's kitchen.
I might not try to make them, but there is other things in there
like scones, mincemeat pies, fruitcakes, tarts, biscuits and cucumber sandwiches.

Hidden beauty

The other day I got this grass smelling little ball

I kept it in my pocket until I came home

Magic happened when I dropped it in a jug of boiling water
The shy and closed ball

opened and turned into a flower

Pretty isn't it!

Now it's time for a cup of tea.

To sum up a good day

I've had a lovely day!

I was shoveling snow in the sunshine

untill my back was wet and my arms tired

When it was time for a break we took out our garden chairs

and had some tea and fruits,

a good talk and sun in our faces

Mittens off and enjoy!

At night, we made home made pizzaand fruit salad for dessert
cause we do love our fruit!

When it dried, we could hardly move our faces
and enjoyed some lemon water
through a straw!

Food friends

These are some of my food friends

Blueberries - good thing I can buy them frozen!

They are good eaten fresh, in desserts, warm soups, cakes and pies!

Or directly from the bush,

if you're so lucky you're out in the wilderness a late summer evening.

Garlic - I use it almost every day.

The ones with cloves like this, or the chinese ones without cloves.

I love the taste, and I think it does my health and body well.

Tea - Since I married an english man I love my tea!

He calls me "the girl who never ay no to a cup of tea, and it's true, I say no to a cup.

I do believe (as the English seem to do)

that there is no situation that can't be made a little better

with a cup of tea.

On the photo served a bit unusual:

In a glass, without milk.

I used the glass cause no cup was big enough for me today

and I added milk after the photo was taken.

Honey - Sometimes on a slice of bread.

And if I feel my throat thickening like today

I guzzle down as many cups of warm tea with honey as I can stand

Usually it goes away quietly
