Measuring device with a history

We keep this item at the cabin
we use it all the time
This item has a history:
My mother, she was born one month before
the second world war came to Norway.
Norway was invaded 9th of April 1940,
she was 3 weeks old
and her family fled the capital to live with her grandparents
in another town.
This kitchen utensil was held by her little hand
5 years later
Norway still paralyzed by war
she fetched soup in it, Swedish soup,
this soup was made of oats
and given out to the hungry children
innocently struck by
war.
When I hold this item in my hand
I sometimes think of my mothers little hand
holding it
not spilling a drop of her treasurable soup

Anette, det var nydelig og riktig fortalt. Jeg får blanke øyne og minnes. Suppen var så god, med innslag av maltekstrakt. Hilsen Mama

to say that is a beautiful story is not giving enough credit to how beautiful the story actually is.

It's nice to have such a nice story to go with an item no one might notice.

What a treasure!!! I keep a spoon from the second world war! It was my grandmother's. It reminds me of her and the difficult days she had as a mother of four young children and a wife of a captive!
