The simpel life

We have no running water at the cabin
We have our own well, but in the winter it's all snowy
and we're not bothered to dig ourselves a path to the well
when we have "water" in piles just outside the door.
You already know what kind of toilet we have
To do the dishes we boil the water up
in an old fasioned pan
While we wait for the water to boil
we entertain ourselves with
paper and crayons

Fishy delight

Red and silver
baked in the oven
salmon, roasted potatoes, red pepper,
lettuce, spring onion and quark, tomatoes

Very tasty indeed!

Focus and multitasking

Being a woman, and a busy mum
I'm always doing several things at a time.
Being effective to me, is if I can have dishwasher,
washer and tumbledryer going, food cooking on the stove,
vacumer in my hand, while listening to the radio,
reading and tidying up.
And this I'll have to do before or after I tend to my kids,
husband and my full time job.

The problem is that in the long run, that won't work.
I understand that,
but still I try to reach the unreachable level of the
Superwoman!

So today, wanting to make lovely foaming milk

To treat myself with a coffe made with milk

I did this:

Because I thought that it was effective to use the 1,5 minutes it took
to warm it up
to vacuum just a little bit.
Forgot all about the milk, and remembered when I smelled
the unpleasent smell of burning milk floating on my stove.
Good thing I did't decide to go shopping!

I'm good at telling others to give themselves a break,
And not be so strict with themselves
But I need to realize, that I'm not so good at it myself.

Winter wonder

King Winter left us lots and lots of snow at the cabin
We were shoveling for hours, while attending to the fire inside
to make it warm and cosy when we finally came in

The snow covered everything, even the sounds were muffled.
There were hardly any cars driving past,
only an occational tractor trying to keep the road open

This massive twin tree is hopefully going down this year!
It might not look it, but it is very tall!

We're back home again, and I don't seem to get warm!
one massive cup of hot cocoa (and cream) and a bowl of hot soup
helps a little

Getting some fresh air and meeting Mr Frosty

We just had to get a bit of fresh air

between our friday tv programs.

Soon this merry fellow was standing in our garden!

Posing with Mr FrostyLittle Chef out in the cold evening

Edit saturday: This is Mr Frosty after a night out (in the snow)

Food friends

These are some of my food friends
Blueberries - good thing I can buy them frozen!
They are good eaten fresh, in desserts, warm soups, cakes and pies!
Or directly from the bush,
if you're so lucky you're out in the wilderness a late summer evening.
Garlic - I use it almost every day.
The ones with cloves like this, or the chinese ones without cloves.
I love the taste, and I think it does my health and body well.
Tea - Since I married an english man I love my tea!
He calls me "the girl who never ay no to a cup of tea, and it's true, I say no to a cup.
I do believe (as the English seem to do)
that there is no situation that can't be made a little better
with a cup of tea.
On the photo served a bit unusual:
In a glass, without milk.
I used the glass cause no cup was big enough for me today
and I added milk after the photo was taken.
Honey - Sometimes on a slice of bread.
And if I feel my throat thickening like today
I guzzle down as many cups of warm tea with honey as I can stand
Usually it goes away quietly

Something cool

I do like maps
And google map is a fun place
Today I discovered something cool
Not only could I zoom in on the streets of the map
Do you see the little yellow man in the left top corner of the map?
Drag him to the place you want to see
and you get a photo of the place.
If you put the cursor on the photo
you will see arrows in the streets directions.
You can move up and down the streets through photos
Nerdy maybe, but cool!

There is no need for fries

When I can have these!

Yum!

Red food wednesday

After a cold walk
I did the nutmeg thing, and then stirred my cocoa with a cinnamon stick
Wonderful!
Then I started on dinner
Salmon baked in foil
Bake in oven for half an hour

unwrap and enjoy

And for dessert:
Warm strawberry dessert
with a bit of custard
