Ugly beauty

If it was all about looks
this pile of tasty food
would have to hide in the shadows
far from my camera lens
But If you close your eyes
you'll taste the flavors of the spinach, onion, red pepper, garlic,
lentils, celery and potatoes.
a bit of leek and rosemary
thats it!

After a good meal
it might me time for something sweet.
When I was little we had dessert every day.
My mum did like her mum did
it was a way to make dinner complete
and also a way to make your money last.
The desserts was old fashioned puddings,
fruit and berry desserts
things like milky tapioka soup(we called it pearl soup),
samolina pudding, bread pudding
We didn't have a lot of money,
but we always had our dinner and dessert.
These days I don't live up to my mum's standard.
We never skip dinner
but dessert comes mostly during the weekend.
We love our dessert!

Home made icecream, pears, cookies and chocolate sauce

Weekend grub

Yorkshire puddings is always a hit in our house
Today, for the first time, I made enough.
12x3=36 pieces)
Little Chef had his with strawberry jam as usual,
the rest of us had them with gravy and all the trimmings.
Since I am a mum of two teenagers
I seem to always be on stand by
in case someone needs a ride somewhere
or needs to be picked up somewhere.
I don't like to have them walking in the streets after dark
.Therefor, there hasn't been much wine drinking lately.
Today I gave my husband the car keys
and granted myself a glass of wine!

Yorkshires and wine, very sofisticated!

Copy cat

Cooking is somtimes about borrowing other peoples ideas!
New ways of cooking
adding new stuff to the repertoire!
Good old Pringles, crushed
And Chicken breast in pieces
turned in flour, egg and pringle crumbs
Fried in oil
Crispy pieces served with tortellini and vegetables

Corny pork

Having english as my second language can be challenging
when it comes to naming ingredients when I cook.
I might name them all wrong, but bear with me I'm doing the best I can
If you see me make an obvious mistake, please tell me
I love to learn!
Anyway lets call this meat
smoked pork chops
Its not too far from the truth I think.
Corn as sweet as candy
A rare pleasure!

Potatoes au gratin, chop and corn.
Maybe not the most elegant plate
but genuine and tasty!

End of holiday, but still its holiday in my heart

Its August and I'm back at work
and I my mind is drifting
to a picnic in a park

and a walk on a beach
While I sit in my office
My oregano is wild and flowering
In my freezer

There is boxes of cherry goodness
for many winter desserts to be made When the weekend comes once more
I'll be making cheesy scones yet another time
to my dearest, just because he loves them

There will be no leftovers for lunch
