Last chance today!
Here's my entering to the Chile Challenge
It is autumn, it is getting chilly
and what we need is hot heartwarming soup
full of colour, antioxidants and taste!
My own chicken and chile soup
with red peppers, tomatoes, onions, leek, carrots, chick peas, cellery, garlic,
thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper
and of course chile and chicken!

And some home made bread rolls with pumkin seeds
after all, it is Halloween

Chile and cinnamon

The 2 th generation chile
is growing in my garden
last years summer was cold and rainy
and I had to keep my plants indoors most of the summer.
It was autumn when I spotted the first chile babies
This year, the weather is better, and my plants are in the garden,
flowering.
And by the look of it, getting enough warmth to grow their first
chile baby I got the first seeds two years ago sent to me
from my friend in NY
then I took seeds from last years chile
and planted them this spring,
hence 2th generation chile, grown in Norway.

Last week we went on holiday to Sweden.
We had such a relaxing week, everyone was on track
and the weather was lovely.
The swedish eggs was terrible,
but the cinnamon rolls was just heaven
I got inspired, and made a batch today
Now the house smells
cinnamon heaven!
I've had a quiet and relaxing Sunday today.
Husband and kids
finds it very entertaining to get scared to death
in rollercoasters etc
They've spent all day enjoying themselves in an amusement park
.
I have no near death wish,
I baked them som lunch to bring
Sent them off
And enjoyed the peace, baking and reading
and finally seeing the film
Which I enjoyed very much!

Fire and forgetfulness

Presenting my chile babies
Full of red fire
And then
Blogging and baking simultaneously
might cause distraction...
And the smell of something burning!

What a waste!

straight in the bin!
sigh.....

Harvest time

Last year I brought a tomato home from Greece
I planted the seeds
and took good care of the plants
Like I've never done before!
But the summer was rainy, and cold.
Nothing like the sunny Greek summer!
From my lovely green tomato plants
I got only one decent tomato
The rest of them were small
At least it was a good tomato

And gave me new seeds for next year.
I'm not a quitter!!

In the backround
a couple of drying chiles
At least they came out red and lovely!

Chile

I recieved a packet og Candy from my friend Le Chien
In New York
The candy was the type I like
It was chile
grown in New Mexico
It has given so much warmth, color
and taste
through the year
There was also seeds
which I planted in our scandinavian soil The summer was rainy and wet
But I took care of my plants the best that I could
I waited and waited
and suddenly one plant started to flower.
After a while I saw to my excitement
that a chile baby was on it's way!
It grew bigger and bigger and finally when the plant started to get tired
the red color appeared

I'm so proud! My first Chile baby

From so far away!

I wonder if it will taste differently than it's origin!

My July garden

Remember the chile I got from my friend Le Chien?
He said that to get them to grow chiles
I had to make sure the bees did their job on the flower department
(if you know what I mean)
Well my chile babies has been enjoying a good life in my kitchen window
because the weather hasn't exactly been like New Mexico..
They are just about to start flowering now
so I had a look in my garden to see
which plants had most action going on.
At the moment the chile plants are enjoying a party
with the boysenberry plants..
What do you think Cristo?
Any hope?

A lot going on in the flower and bumble bee department...

Another exciting development is my greek tomatoes
Still just flowering,
but they have been living out door all summer, bless them!

if i get any luck on these two projects,
I can promise you
there will be some "show-and-tell" posting!

Flowering mint

Soon to be full grown apples

Cherries. I'm working on my motivation to pick a load,
remove the pips inside
and make something!
It takes some time to do it, and gets very messy!
(I don't mind messiness but with these,
you have to wear your worst t-shirt
because at the end you are ready to cast in a splatter movie)

Enchiladas

I haven't done this before, but it can't be that difficult
Wheat tortillas
(in the sun)

minced chicken, and vegetables
crushed tomatoes and of course: chile
and chilibeans

Wrap, roll and stack
and cover with grated cheese

Served with avocado, and quark
