Chile and cinnamon

The 2 th generation chile

is growing in my garden

last years summer was cold and rainy

and I had to keep my plants indoors most of the summer.

It was autumn when I spotted the first chile babies
This year, the weather is better, and my plants are in the garden,

flowering.

And by the look of it, getting enough warmth to grow their first

chile baby I got the first seeds two years ago sent to me

from my friend in NY

then I took seeds from last years chile

and planted them this spring,

hence 2th generation chile, grown in Norway.

Last week we went on holiday to Sweden.

We had such a relaxing week, everyone was on track

and the weather was lovely.

The swedish eggs was terrible,

but the cinnamon rolls was just heaven

I got inspired, and made a batch today

Now the house smells

cinnamon heaven!

I've had a quiet and relaxing Sunday today.
Husband and kids
finds it very entertaining to get scared to death
in rollercoasters etc
They've spent all day enjoying themselves in an amusement park
.
I have no near death wish,
I baked them som lunch to bring
Sent them off

And enjoyed the peace, baking and reading

and finally seeing the film

Which I enjoyed very much!

Daytrip

Finally I'm on holiday

and we went for a day trip

To a lovely little town called Stavern

Wooden boats

And a summer salad!

Pretending to be on holiday

Salad of watermelon

feta cheese

pine nuts

and basil

Served with good friends

that can handle to be served again and again

This time in lovely sunlight!

And some applecake

A couple of lemon balm leaves
and lavender flowers from my garden
to make it pretty

I am still at work
Longing for my holiday
pretending to be on holiday!
I am a great pretender
but I want the real thing now!
only 1,5 week more
and I'll be off for 3 weeks!

Kitchen joy

As I was handrolling the Spicy meat balls
I opened a bottle of ice cold beer with a twist of lime
It was summer in my heart

The amandine potatoes was baking in the oven

sprinkled with sea salt


Then we took our food out in the garden

and enjoyed it in the summer evening

Rhubarb crumble was baking in the oven

While while we had our dinner

But we had to wait a while to eat it

we were too full!

Finally we were ready for our sweet, tangy and crusty

delight!

Lovely life at the cabin

This kettle is made of copper

It's a kettle for out door coffee making over open fire.

And it supposed to be black.

That's why we call it a Black kettle.

Coffee made in a black kettle, over the fire

is the best coffee in the world!

Waiting for the coffegrains to sink

we light a candle to scare away the mosquitos

and for the simple joy of it

The salad tasted so good,

together with the skewers that tasted so good that I simply forgot to take a photo.. Yorkshire lad had to freshen up a bit
because he started to look like a scruff

Summer food

Pollock

Browned onions, slowly cooked

The fish and the onions are good friends!

Dessert:

Vanilla icecream, peanuts and NonStop

And for lunch the day after, when the sun is out

with a book on my lap

and the birds singing in the tree!

House wife Out of order

While the houswife has been slightly out of order

dormant powers have surfaced

After a short course in how to separate and clean clothes

Pink Princesse has totally taken over the washing, drying and folding

in our house!

She does it with great pride and precision,

plans ahead and does it independantly.

Yorkshire lad has done some shopping and fed the troops.

Little Chef has brought me tea,

and Dinkie the dog has warmed my feet

Thats how it has been when the houswife was out of order.

Now she's working her way back

but hopefully the surfaced powers will stay!
