The calendar project

My daughter Pink Princesse goes to school
far up north if Norway.
In a couple of days, the sun will disapper for quite a while
She is wondering how she will cope with it!
Where we live, further south, the days are short in the winter
but the sun never disappear completely so it will be her first time!

To cheer her up
I'm preparing a Christmas calendar
for the days in December until she comes home for her Christmas holiday!
One little present for each day.
A little break after the wrapping
Burger and chips, Little Chefs favourite!
He wants a calendar too!

I'll send them off, one package at a time
You can't beat getting mail!
That'll put a smile on her face
and make her feel special
my sweet girl!

Slipping through my fingers

I feel like the mother in this ABBA song these days.
My daughter will be going away to a school
far up north of Norway in a couple of days.
We are cleaning out her closets, packing suitcases
Talking laughtng and taking a break
with a game of Yatzy every now and then.
How will it be without her around the house?
Very quiet and strange.
Of course this is all we want for her
going out in the world and embracing it!
It's the way it should be, but it is still strange
and I will secretly be bringing some kleenex
for the way home...

Water and eggs at the cabin

Pink Princesse has been creative at the cabin

She's preparing for Easter

She has painted empty eggshells

in watercolors Outside, spring has made the ground pretty with the earliest flowers we get in Norway The ice is melting in the little lake and water is overflowing the dam Little Chef is helping!
Pollen is also a part of spring

I've made my precautions:

Eyedrops, nosespray and allergy medicine

therefore I can sit outside in the sun

enjoying a

Good book (notice the reading glasses, I'm getting old....)

A cold beer, lovely!

(Notice the T-shirt, I'm not that old after all..)

Cheers!

Spring in a tomatoe and trifle of love

If left alone for a while
A tomato will go on with life
And start growing on it's own!
Looking inside the tomato
It is like a little spring happening!
But it is freezing outside!
Warm cooking, though,
Chicken stuffed with orange
Chicken with a belly full of sunshine!

Trifle of love
Mothers day in Norway
Pink Princess gave me a pink flower

We thought of spring and love
and enjoyed the sweet trifle!

Pink fishing princess

Last night my daughter went on a fishing trip
with two of her friends
They stood on a bridge with their fishing rods
casting out and reeling in!
And what happiness and joy!
A mackerel was passing by!
Even though she has become more squeamish with age
Being a young lady with painted fingernails and all

The excitement over the fish pushed it all aside
She opened it eagerly, to look inside

Studying the guts, finding it very interesting!
The fish had fish for it's last supper

I'm so proud of my Pink fishing Princess
Edit:
While I was telling you about the fishing adventure
She came home again
with two more!
Tonight she would hear nothing of not preparing it
even though we've had our dinner.

Beautiful isn't it!

Turn it in flour with salt and pepper
Fry it in butter or oil

serve with potatoes, sour cream and cucumber salad

Food from the fiord!

Cakie cream report

For a spounge cake I need:
4 eggs
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of flour
2 teaspoons of bakingpowder
2 tablespoons of potato flour
1/2 cup of cold water
180 C for about 40 minutes

Pink Princess is in charge of the building and decorating of the cake.
She is proudly showing her nails off, after 15 years of biting them
She puts cream, fruit coctail, banana and rasberry jam inside
Covers it with cream and finally marzipan.
Then write on it with decorating jelly.

The birthday boy was very pleased indeed!

To sum up a good day

I've had a lovely day!
I was shoveling snow in the sunshine
untill my back was wet and my arms tired
When it was time for a break we took out our garden chairs
and had some tea and fruits,
a good talk and sun in our faces
Mittens off and enjoy!

At night, we made home made pizzaand fruit salad for dessert
cause we do love our fruit!
Pink Princess and I
put face masks on to refresh our cheeks
When it dried, we could hardly move our faces
and enjoyed some lemon water
through a straw!

Girls night with mommy upstairs

Last saturday the Pink Princess
had 6 girls over for pizza, film and Singstar
The boys was sent off elsewhere
mommy stayed to cater and keep an eye on the madness
Home made pizza with and without meat Pink Princess were chopping vegetables
and mixing the sauce

She set the table nicely
When the guests arrived,
mommy realized that she hadn't planned anything to eat for herself
She couldn't count on any pizza leftovers
She had provide for herself,
so she made herself a quick meal that turned out to be
Ugly looking maybe,
but tasting like heaven!

Small whole boiled potatoes, leek, garlic, red pepper, chili, and spices, and lentils.

Mommy enjoyed her night upstairs with a glass of wine,
surfing the net and watching a film,
while the girls sang, laughed and screamed until the middle of the night

Pretty Pink Princess

The 15 year old Pink Princess asked me:
Why don't you mention me in your blog?
So here's a post about her and her box of treasure
This Polkadot Treasure box is from Dublin
Its her tool box

All full of what she needs
before she gets off in the morning
Colors of all kinds, after how she feels.

She glances at her mum, and says:

- You could use a bit of color on your face you know!

I rub my eyes thoroghly(like I usually do) and say:

- How do you think I would look after doing this?

She sighs lenient and continues to put on her makeup.
