Talent

Today I stumbled over a youtube video
that I really enjoyed watching or listening to!
Sungha Jung, a young Korean boy
who can play his guitar with feeling and skill!
Try the link above, listen to him!
I couldn't get the video posted (cause my lack of skill I guess)
but here's a photo

Fantastic!

Spring or not to spring

I've been praising spring lately
and helping it the best I can!

In the middle of our garden there was a big pile of snow
In the middle of it I found our garden table.
I had to dig it out!
We love eating outside:

Little Chef having his first meal outside this year
A fire in the snow can also make it shrink

The sun, oh our lovely sun!
No ice or snow can stay safe!
And the first slight sunburn ar making my cheeks glow
Since my last attempt on muffins went a bit
nice on the outside but not so much on the inside
I made a new batch.
They were just perfekt, with a strawberry inside

And then today.. despite all my digging, and glowing cheeks
we're back in the winter
30 cm snow came down today
Good grief!

I was moping around frustrated about the weather
and I suddenly remember
that when I was 14,
all my friends liked Limahl and Depeche Mode
And I, the differente one

And that had refreshingly little to do with snow

Experimental muffins

The other day I bought some chickpea flour
because I had seen it in the bhaji recipe.
I've not tried to make them yet,
but I kept wondering
What else can I use this flour for?
Is it ok for baking?
I googled it of course, and found pancakes and indian flat bread etc
and then I decided to try something experimental
what about chick pea muffins?
Next to chickpea flour, I used a bit of wheat flour, eggs, some sugar, pinch of salt,
some milk, some oil, grated carrot, bicarbonate and a bit of bakingpowder.
They looked so good, and they rose so well
and they tasted..
kind of good, and kind of different.
what can I say

Kind of pea tasting muffins if you know what I mean
I couldn't decide if I liked them or not.
You know the smell of soaked dried legumes
before they are boiled. A bit like that!
I found that I liked them best with butter and cheese.
My kids didn't like them
My husband said he didn't like them
but ate the rest anyway (so it couldn't have been to bad)

I might not make them again...
I'll try something else next time. Any ideas?

Yummy good food

When we were in England last week,
we had a good feast at my husbands sisters house.
Her husband Glyn is making this grub like a king!
He prepared lots of good stuff for us,
chicken, beef, duck, pork

vegetables, noodles, rice you name it!

This is his famous "sticky chicken"
I didnt get my hand on the recipe
bot the chicken was gone in a moment
Ah the taste of it!
My plate of goodness:
For starters (I'll mention it last just to be peculiar)
We had something called Bhaji, I munched mine and then the second one
before I thought of taking a photo so I pinched this one from the web
for you to see:
I'll try to make that one day!

Cauliflower soup

Cauliflower, spring onions, celery and stock(cube)
After boiling it for some minutes
I remove some of the cauilflower
and mash the rest
I whisk milk, cream and flour to thicken the soup,
and boil in a few minutes

Before serving put the pieces of cauliflower back in the soup to heat
Then it's time for yummy soup!

I've been out

I've been away for a few days.
We went to my husbands homeland England.
There was family, laughter, friends and food
And oh my sweet lilly, there was Spring!
This is the map and a snack in the rental car today
(notice the sunshine)
On our way over the Pennines from Rotherham to Liverpool
from where our plane took us home this evening
I'll report more tomorrow!
Because of course I brought my camera for blogging material!

Lighthouse

Sometimes its ok to get high up and flash your light to see far
and be seen from far

And sometimes it's fun to eat tall food.
who says it always has to be served flat?
mash, fishcakes, cauliflower, broccoli, peas and carrots
and a stick (we all need a spine to stand up)

Not hungry?

Our neighbour is kind to the birds
She puts yummy seeds of all kinds out for them to eat.
Our cat loves to watch them eat,
and probably fantasize about eating them
(but she will never get to them
cause she can't shut up when she sees a befethered creature)
I thought I'd be kind to birds too
and offer a bit of entertainment to the cat.
I tied a string around some buns and put them up in a tree
outside her window.
But do you think those spoilt birds touched the buns??
Not even the seagulls who eats scraps and rubbish!!
What? Why??
The sad buns after snowfall.
Another bun story:
Hamburger
Instead of the cheese we usually use
I put feta cheese on mine and stuck it in the oven a bit.
Oh yummy delight!
Nobody in my family like tuna
so I rarely use it
But today I made myself a salad for lunch
Tuna, spring onions, celery, lettuce and egg
Plain and lovely
I'll make it again some day

Heart

A couple of days ago I recieved a award from two of my blog friends:
Go and visit them, they are great girls!
I've recieved some awards before, but like with memes
I usually don't follow their rules,
I guess I'm a bit stubborn like that!
But I really appreciate reading my favourite blogs
and getting to know new friends out there!
So thanks girls!
Hope you had a good 8th of March yesterday!

Stew a la March

A piece of meat
Some potatoes
To make ovenbaked potato wedges
This is a helpful tip:
After cutting each potato in 6 or 8 wedges
put them in a plastic bag.
Then you can add oil and spices
close the bag and shake and roll'it untill
everything has been everywhere
Then just drop it in the baking pan or tray that you want to use.
I add a bit more spices, salt and pepper,
some of it tend to be left in the bag.
For the meat stew:
Meat, onion, carrot, cellery, champignon, stock, red wine, spices
add a lttle maizena to thicken the stock
Simmer calmly for a long time
and taste it a few times to make sure its good
The smell in the kitchen is ahh! lovely!
The chili, rosemary, thyme and cinnamon, I'm in love with these!
While eating there is no sounds but
the sounds of enjoying
